Yaesu Ft-450D remoting

Post by luixi »

Good morning,
I wold need an help; Using your beautiful apps I managed in remoting my Icom IC-7000 without any problems.
Now I would like to help a friend of mine to remote his Ft-450d, but I need some suggests:
We already have cat control and Ptt control by Rs-232c port, now we need to "take" audio in and out. I had planned to use the mini 6 pin connector (data connector), using the pin 1 (data out) to transmit the audio (in audio in of audio pc), pin 5 (data out) to receive audio (audio out pc) and pin 2 for the common GND. To do a good job I planned to put 2 trasformers 1:1 to isolate. The problem is thath someone told to us thath this way is incorrect, cause the pin1 and pin5 of the mini 6 pin connector of the radio is only for the data transfer (digi modes) and not for the normal phony.
So I was thinking to use the TUNER 10 pin connector (thath has rx and tx in pin 4 and 5).
I hope I was clear and in your help.
Thanks a lot
Regards
Luigi

Hi Luigi,

In order to use data port audio, you need to set the mode to DATA and better to use a separate pin from the RS232 interface (ex RTS) for PTT on the same connector.

Hope this answer your question.

so the configuration which I thought (data connector for audio and rs232 for ptt) is the right one?

Hi Luigi,

Take a look at my data interface for FT8x7 here:
https://www.yo3ggx.ro/ft8x7datav2/FT817 ... e_v2.0.pdf
at the audio part that is similar with the one of FT-450.
Anyway, I strongly recommend you to use an Yaesu SCU-17 interface. Is not expensive and is a high quality one.
Is fully supported by my app in both USB and Network mode.

thanks for the answers.
So I can understand thath the audio (for the phony) is taken from ACC connector.

No.
ACC connector is used in FT8x7 for CAT (RxD and TxD). In FT-450 you have a DB9 RS232 connector for CAT.
Audio is from the DATA connector. My mistake, the document I've sent does not contain audio part.
This wiring schematic may help you to better understand how to connect.
