Q. Why in the new version I am asked for grid locator?
A. Some features in the application require your location (map, distance). Seems that this "code" confuse some users, not familiar with the term "grid locator". Will be made optional in the next release.

Q. Why when connected to IC7300 I don't get feedback from the radio when parameters are changed?
A. Check if AUTOINFO is ON. If yes, Icom radios send back to the app only changes for frequency, mode and filter. If you want for all defined parameters, use AUTOINFO=OFF.

Q. I have a Samsung smartphone and when the application goes to background, the sound stop.
A. First you must allow notifications when you are asked at first application start. If you denied, then you must reinstall the app and accept it, as you will not be asked again. If notifications are not activated, the app may not work continuously in the background.
Samsung devices, especially on Android 13 and up (One UI >=5), are notorious for aggressive battery management. The reason Pocket RxTx stops but works elsewhere is likely due to Samsung’s "Background Usage Limits" and "Battery Optimization" features, which are more restrictive than stock Android.
How to fix it:
<The "Sleeping Apps" Feature
Samsung has a system called Background Usage Limits. If the system decides my app is using too much power in the background, it will put it into a "Sleeping" or "Deep Sleeping" state the moment it is not on the screen.
How to fix it:
- Go to Settings > Battery and device care.
- Tap Battery > Background usage limits.
- Check if PocketRxTx is in Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps.
To prevent this forever, tap Never auto sleeping apps and add your app to that list.
Battery Optimization (Unrestricted Mode)
Android 13 introduced stricter categories for battery usage: Restricted, Optimized, and Unrestricted. Samsung often defaults apps to "Optimized," which can kill audio services to save power.
How to fix it:
- Long-press your App Icon > Tap the (i) Info button.
- Tap Battery.
- Change the setting from "Optimized" to Unrestricted.
Try the workarounds one by one in the same order as above, until the issue is solved.

Q. Why Tx audio level is so low on a Kenwood TS590SG transceiver, even the audio volume is at max? [SY1DAL]
A. For many Kenwood transceivers with an USB connection, you must set DATA=ON for audio to go through the back USB connector and not through the microphone.

Q. Why not all WebSDR servers are available in the application?
A. I am not allowed to add a new WebSDR server without server owner consent. If a WebSDR server owner want to join Pocket RxTx, he must follow the steps presented here:
