I do not see where one can buy the hardware to use with any radio. I also do not see any info for use with an Icom 7800 and this app. Can someone provide me more info please on where to buy the interface?

Hardware and use with Icom 7800
Re: Hardware and use with Icom 7800
Hi Tom,
Icom IC-7800 is not directly supported with the application embedded configuration files. In the current version the following Icom transceivers are supported:
IC-718
IC-748
IC-746 Pro
IC-7000
IC-7200
IC-7400
You can connect a transceiver in 3 modes:
- USB/Serial CAT cable (you need an OTG adapter on your Android device
- Bluetooth (if a Bluetooth interface is available for your brand/model
- Over the network . For this mode you need to connect your transceiver to a PC (Windows/Linux/Mac) and run jAS2SecNET Java application (available n my web site) on that PC.
All these details are available in the application user guide:
- Online here: http://www.yo3ggx.ro/pocketrxtx/doc07/index.html
- as a pdf file here: http://www.yo3ggx.ro/pocketrxtx/doc07/p ... x_v0.7.pdf
You can easily add IC-7800 to the list of supported radios following the instructions in the user guide. For this you can start for example with the IC-7400 config file as a template, as both use the same Icom proprietary CI-V protocol described here:
http://www.plicht.de/ekki/civ/index.html
Considering the complexity of this transceiver and the big available screen, I see no practical reason to control it from an Android device over Bluetooth (max 10m distance, no audio). Better you can control it remotely over the Internet as described in the user guide.
Maybe some other Icom owners using my app can help you more.
Thank you.
