jAReC closes pre-maturelly

Post by kw7a »

I loaded jAReC to run on my Windows 10 computer.

Each time I run it it closes unexpectedly.

For example:
If I click on a field it closes.
I CAN click on the tabs and go to the audio page.
Then I can select a sound inport and/or sound output ONLY if I use the up/dn arrows.
If I click on the pull down arrow, the app closes.

On the main page I can get around using the up/dn arrows and tab keys BUT if I click on anything the app closes.

Also, if I manage to get some data entered and then press START, it turns yellow but after a period of time (1-30 seconds) the app closes by itself.

Any help out there?

OBTW: I tried version 2 and version 3. Same problem.
I have the latest version of Java Runtime loaded.

Hi John,

What Java runtime version are you using?
jAReC does not support version 10 or 11, only the latest 1.8.
You can download it from here (8u192):
https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java ... 33155.html

Thanks,

That seems to work.
So far no shutdown.

I was running 8u191 (the suggested version if you just go to the Java download page.)
Version 8u192 does not even show up on that page.

Your link worked beautifully.

I will give it a good testing latter today, but so far everything looks good.

Again,
A BIG thanks,

John

This is strange, as I can see it.

Please share here your experience.
Just take care that jAReC v3 can be used only with the experimental Pocket RxTx (b3) from my web site and jAReC v2 only with the Play Store version of Pocket RxTx (v2)

When I searched for the Java Runtime I just googled the net.

Here is where it steered me to.
(Their suggestion for Windows 10)

https://java.com/en/download/win10.jsp

As you can see it suggested version 8u191.

Once you pointed me to the other Java download page, I downloaded the correct version needed (8u192) and now all is well.

As I go forward would you be interested in bugs found for v2.o and/or v3.0b5 ?

Thanks again for everything.
If everything continues to work I plan on upgrading to the PRO version tomorrow.

Both are good, only v10 and v11 are not supported.

I'm interested in v3, as this will become the main version. v2 is no more updated.
Thanks again for everything.

Experimental v3 is the Pro version, but expires with each update. As soon as v3 will be ready for Play Store, both Free and Paid versions will be available. V3 will be available at a higher price, but current users of Pro version (v2) will be able to upgrade to v3 and any other further version for free.

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm ready to purchase the V2.0 PRO version.

I have a smartphone & 2 tablets I will use for android clients.

Planned setup:

I have 2 (or 3) radios.
1) A mobile Yaesu FT-100 that I will use Bluetooth for the linkup in my car.
(Tablet in front on the dashboard of my car with the radio under rear seat)

2) And a desktop Kenwood TS-2000 that will use WiFi in my ham Shack.
(smartphone / tablet linked to Windows 10 computer in Ham Shack)

3) Just for fun, I may try to see if I can write a configuration for my ICOM IC-735.
(I don't see that radio listed right now)

How many licenses do I need to purchase and register?

If all the Android devices are using the same Google account, then you need only one.
You can install then the app on as many devices you want, if registered with the same account.
Any further updates, even it the listed price is changing, is free.
