Hi Carl,

Use the round button in the right part of the tuning knob. This is explained in the app user guide.

I turned radio feedback off and checked RTS on the jAReC. The radio did not turn off and everything worked fine. Of course, I did not get any SWR/PO readings in the app. So, I went back the DTR with radio feedback and I had the readings and the radio did not turn off. There was still the beeping so I went into the Menu #12 and turned Beep Vol off. No beeping and everything is working great.

Thank you for your help and patience. This is a fantastic app especially now that my problems are solved.

Hi Dan,

My first message here. We have spoken before by mail.
I was the one with the Yaesu FT-991A tranceiver who has no audio while transmitting.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to solve that problem yet.

Thank you for building the new version. I use it with lots of fun :)

I use the latest version (Playstore) Pocket RxTx Pro. I connect to my FT991A by network.
On my Windows server I use jAReC v3.0b9

I want to ask you the following.
If I want to set the Squelch level, I press the [SQL] button.
I get: "PWR-OUT = 0W" with the slider and the [OK] button.
The squelch can not be adjusted. It also has no effect on the power setting.

If I use the [PWR] button I get the options 5W, 10W, 25W etc. but it has no effect on the FT-991A.
The power setting is not adjusted on the FT991A.

Is there a solution for this?

Hi Alex,

Please take care that the new slider commands from v3 are defined in FT-991 config just as placeholders (copied from the IC7300 config). I didn't have time to take a look and fully update the file, so if you want to use them you must edit them first.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply,
I did some sniffing in the configuration file 'yaesu_ft991.radio'.
I changed 'BTN_OPT4_FN=' into 'BTN_OPT4_FN=SQL, CMD_SET_SQUELCH=FOO'
Now the SQL setting works, but the steps are not correct.
20% results in 50% and 40% results in 100% on the FT991A.
Is this step correction also a setting in the configuration file?

The same applies to the power slider. 10% results in 25Watt on the ft991A.

I got the power step choice button working by adding:
<S1=5W,S2=10W,S3=25W,S4=50W,S5=100W>
CMD_SET_PWR_5W=<SPC005;>
CMD_SET_PWR_10W=<SPC010;>
CMD_SET_PWR_25W=<SPC025;>
CMD_SET_PWR_50W=<SPC050;>
CMD_SET_PWR_100W=<SPC100;>

The only question I have for now is:
How can I define the right steps for the Squelch Slider and the Power Slider?

Thank you and 73

Hi Alex,

I've updated the slider commands in FT991 config (Squelch, AF volume, RF Gain and Power). For squelch use the button in the lower left part of the tuning knob (first options set).
For PWR, use the second button in the second options set.
Please reload the config.
I will assign some other command to the PWR main button in order to prevent confusion. Do you have any proposal? What's the most used button?

Hi Dan,

Thank you for updating the FT991(A) slider configuration. I hope the sliders will work well now.
I don’t have any proposal for changing the [PWR] button. I think the [PWR] button can stay.
It’s quite convenient to be able to select power settings quickly with the predefined buttons.
It is always available in every options set.
For finetuning, the slider is the nicest option.

I changed the predefined ones like this:
LST2NAME=PWR
LST2ITEMS=5W,10W,15W,20W,25W,50W,75W,100W
LST2CMDS=CMD_SET_PWR_5W,CMD_SET_PWR_10W,CMD_SET_PWR_15W,CMD_SET_PWR_20W,CMD_SET_PWR_25W,CMD_SET_PWR_50W,CMD_SET_PWR_75W,CMD_SET_PWR_100W

<S1=5W;S2=10W;S3=15W;S4=20W;S5=25W;S6=50W;S7=75W;S8=100W>
CMD_SET_PWR_5W=<SPC005;>
CMD_SET_PWR_10W=<SPC010;>
CMD_SET_PWR_15W=<SPC015;>
CMD_SET_PWR_20W=<SPC020;>
CMD_SET_PWR_25W=<SPC025;>
CMD_SET_PWR_50W=<SPC050;>
CMD_SET_PWR_75W=<SPC075;>
CMD_SET_PWR_100W=<SPC100;>

I have tried to get the S-meter to work but the meter always comes with value S9-60. Even if there is no signal. I think I did something wrong.
Settings are defined like this now:
CMD_READ_SMETER=01,01,<SSM0;>,<R>,07,<00>,<00>,<00>,<T2>,<T1>,<T0>,<00>

CALIB_SMETER=<MAX=255>,<0=0;10=1;17=2;25=3;40=4;52=5;70=6;90=7;115=8;135=9;150=910;170=920;189=930;214=940;226=950;250=960>

POLLING=CMD_READ_FREQ_VFO-A,CMD_READ_SMETER

Please let me know when you change the online version of 'yaesu_ft991.radio' so I will reload and test it.

Thanks for support 😊

Hi Alex,

I've added all the power levels for the second main button and associated commands to the config in the repository.
What's the reason for the line:

Code: Select all

<S1=5W;S2=10W;S3=15W;S4=20W;S5=25W;S6=50W;S7=75W;S8=100W>
I've added all read commands to the POLLING line as in v3 you can activate them individually through the interface.
The READ_SMETER command looks ok for me and as I remember, was tested on my FT-991 transceiver. Unfortunately I don;t have it anymore.

Try to select in the polling panel only SMETER and check again.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for adjusting the configuration file.
I have tested it today, but unfortunately it does not work as it was intended.

SQL slider option says 'Power-Out' and has no effect on Squelch.

Power slider works but does not give the right values. 10% gives value 25Watt to the FT991A.

Selected polling option 'Freq_VFO_A' does not work. When adjusting the frequency on the FT991A, the Android display will not be updated.
When using the 'SCAN' option, the frequency remains the same as it was the moment when start scanning.
Even when a station is found.
Screen updates works well with 'MODE' and 'PTT', (the lines where S1=LSB or S1=OFF are defined)
SMETER always gives 'S9 + 60dB' and stays on screen continuously that way.

Line: <S1=5W,S2=10W,S3=15W,S4=20W,S5=25W,S6=50W,S7=75W,S8=100W>
Hmm okay, apparently it is not necessary. I used the example from the line above the 'SET_MODE' commands.

Hope you have some options/Ideas left.

Thanks again!
